Contrary to popular thought, Lorem Ipsum's text is not simply random text. It has its roots in a classic piece of Latin literature, dating from the year 45 BC, making it acquire more than 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at the University of Hampden-Sydney in Virginia, found one of the darkest words in the Latin language, "consecteur", in a passage by Lorem Ipsum, and by continuing to read various texts from Latin, Discovered the undoubted source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "Finnibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero, written in the year 45 BC. This book is a treatise on theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of the Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet ..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32
The standard Lorem Ipsum piece of text used since 1500 is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions of the translation made in 1914 by H. Rackham.
